>>House prices continue to rise albeit at a slower rate:

For the seventh consecutive month, more Chartered Surveyors are reporting that the number of new instructions is increasing rather than falling. 17 percent more Chartered Surveyors reported a rise than a fall in new instructions. Fresh demand for property is still outstripping new supply but the gap has narrowed. 20 percent more surveyors stated that enquiries from potential purchasers are rising rather than falling but enquiries rose at the slowest pace since January 2009.

>>Energy inefficient homes exposed by cold period:

There is much that can be done to 'retrofit' existing properties with energy efficiency measures. Loft insulation and wall insulation are highly cost effective, particularly in light of the fact that the price of home heating oil has been increasing. Double-glazing also makes a significant contribution to energy efficiency. 

>>Investment Cash returns to commercial property:

Commercial property transactions rose across the majority of the globe with Brazil and China leading the way. With generally low interest rates and relatively high yields, investors have returned to commercial property. The net balance of surveyors reporting a rise in transactions in Brazil rose from 29 percent to 61 percent in the fourth quarter while the net balance in China edged up from 58 percent from 47 percent.
